I recently rented the movie from Blockbuster and watched the whole thing. I love that song, Seasons of Love. I actually really enjoyed the movie. I like musicals, except when they use songs instead of conversation - that annoys me. But, I liked the message here. Yes, it's about homosexuality and drugs in NYC, but it's also about friendship, and love, and memories, and regrets. It's about fighting for something and living life the way you want to live it. Yes, you have to be at least a little open minded to watch it, but once you get past the premise and think about what they are living through, living with, living for, you see it's so much more. I wish more of us could live like them, not necessarily addicted to drugs or having our electricity shut off, but knowing what's really important in life, knowing that what makes you happy is that you're surviving, thriving, living with friends and love in your life and not taking that for granted or letting it go.
I'm going to start working on that... try to stop worrying about things and just take it one day at a time and see where the road leads. Wish me luck!
And, just in case you haven't heard the Seasons of Love song, I wrote the lyrics down - cutting out all the repition. Or you can watch the video (about 3 minutes) from YouTube here.
Five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes...
how do you measure, measure a year?
In daylights, in sunsets,
in midnights, in cups of coffee.
In inches, in miles,
in laughter, in strife.
Five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes -
how do you measure a year in the life?
How about love? How about love?
Measure in love. Seasons of love.
F
ive hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes!
Five hundred twenty five thousand journeys to plan.
Five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes-
how can you measure the life of a woman or man?
In truths that she learned, or in times that he cried.
In bridges he burned, or the way that she died.
It's time now to sing out, tho the story never ends
let's celebrate remember a year in the life of friends.
Remember the love! Measure in love.
Seasons of love! Seasons of love.
