Well, the saying goes "no news is good news" and I certainly don't want to give you that impression so this is just to let you know that there is still no progress on labor. No contractions, no dilation, no nothing. So, here I sit and wait for Ms. Kayla. The doctor is pretty adamant about induction shortly after her due date but I think I'll try to give her until Tuesday or Wednesday. We can induce on Wednesday or Thursday and the doctor can still have his precious weekend. I'd really prefer not to induce - I hear there's a higher rate of c-sections with inductions and I don't want that to be the case. Plus, if the doctor is so quick to jump to inducing then he might be quick to jump to a c-section. Seems to me doctors are way to quick to jump the gun these days. So, anyway, I'll be busy this week walking and getting a pedicure (apparently there are some pressure points in your feet that can stimulate labor). Not much else I can do.
I do find it a bit humorous that everyone seems concerned that I haven't delivered yet. Her due date isn't until next Saturday. Now, if her due date were last Saturday I'd be a little more worried, but 40 weeks is 40 weeks and we're only at 39. There was an episode of Roseanne a while back where Jackie was pregnant and flipping out saying she was going to be carrying around a 13 year old kid. That's kinda how I feel but, again, I'm only at 39 weeks. I guess I'll start flipping out when they schedule the induction date.
Anyway - that's about it. This may or may not have been the last weekend as non- parents... we'll see. :-)

Sex (and nipple stimulation)stimulates labor as well...or so I hear. Just throwing that out there for Eric ;)
ReplyDeleteOn a more serious note, Carla and I are so happy for you guys. We have all gone through the same troubles but God is good and you'll/we'll have a kiddo around to reaffirm it.
ReplyDeletefull term is healthy. better than early right? she's gestating just the proper amount of time, although i'd watch out, this might be setting a precedent if she goes over. not wanting to leave the womb, not wanting to leave the house at 18, you get the picture. :) anyway, i was going to say i'd heard sex helps, but mr. miles beat me too it. and on a random, but touching note, the last book i read had a passage in it that i though was really nice. a character was reflecting back on a child she had unfortuantely lost, and she said this, 'i carried her for nine months under my heart.' i know physically this isn't far from the truth, but i thought it was a nice thought. so think on that. enjoy your walks. xoxox
