She's got the whole world in her hand

When Great Grandma came out Kayla was just 6 weeks old. GG would try to hard so get her to open up her little hands, but she just wasn't ready to do that. Well, guess what! Now she is. Don't get me wrong, she didn't just start doing it... I'm leading up to something here. She has always grabbed on to whatever's put into her hands, and now whatever happens to be anywhere near her hands. But, now, she reaches out and puts her open palm against your arm, or shoulder, or face, or belly... whatever she can reach. And it is just the sweetest thing.

She actually wants to be close to you and can in fact get close to you on her own. She creeps over to me sometimes and (I swear) tries to crawl into my lap. Or in her bouncer she'll reach out and try to touch you - instead of her toys. It absolutely makes my heart melt.

An Ode To Her Hands
She wants them in her mouth, or holding whatever is near her (or can creep to) including her feet. She uses them to guide the spoon into her mouth. When she's creeping she puts them together and uses them to pull herself forward. When she's in her bath or the pool she uses them to splash. When you're holding her she is equally likely to hit you with them when she gets excited or simply lay them on you when she's calm. In her bouncer she can spin the little froggy a million miles an hour or grab her favorite toy - the elephant. While trying to go to sleep when sucks on them, through whatever mitten (or sock) she has on.

When she's in my arms, I am absolutely in the palm of her hand.

“If you look deeply into the palm of your hand, you will see your parents and all generations of your ancestors. All of them are alive in this moment. Each is present in your body. You are the continuation of each of these people.” Thich Nhat Hanh
