But I thought I still needed to do something Easter-y, especially since we don't go to church (yes, I want to look for one, I just haven't yet). So ... we spent Saturday messing around and a happy Easter Sunday.
It was so much fun trying to get her to understand to pick up the eggs and put them in her basket. I tried for a few minutes Friday morning and I guess that was enough because we went out there Sunday morning and when Rita pointed to the eggs Kayla picked them up and put them in her basket. Watching her carry around her two baskets (a regular size one and a mini one) on the front porch in her dress and tights and sandals - I loved every second! I loved her dress - even with the long sleeve turtleneck under it. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

Saturday night before I went to bed Rita and I had made our baskets and had set up several stuffed animals and bunnies. So, when we came down the stairs that morning, just she and I, she got so excited to see it all. I quickly picked up the baskets because I wanted her to open those with Rita and Eric downstairs. But, she did go for her giant bunny - though she's liked that bunny for a couple weeks now. She played with them, threw them around, asked for and got her Easter cards, played with those and threw those around... all in the span of 5 minutes our living room was the scene of a bunny explosion!

After some breakfast we went up and changed while Gammy and Dad put the living room back together. So, she got two chances to come downstairs to fun stuff. And she went straight for the new stuff - checking out everything that that was in the baskets. She played with the bouncing bunny...pulled the string to make the bunny's belly light up, put on her bracelets and read her books.

Then, of course we had to have a 2nd breakfast which was not a traditional Easter breakfast/brunch - just cereal, oatmeal, etc. :-) But, of course, that was the day she decided she liked blueberries. Good thing I had her bib on and she didn't drop any! I would have been so upset if she got a big ole purple spot on her oh so cute dress! But she did good.
Now it's time for the Easter Egg Hunt! It was chilly but she doesn't care. She stayed out the playing, looking for, looking in the eggs. Hitting them with her basket, running around. What she didn't care for was taking pictures. We of course had to try to get the requisite pictures and she was too distracted by all the stuffed animals on the couch, and just not into smiling when we tried the family pictures so it's hit or miss with those. But we did what we could. This is the one good smiling one!

Eric had suggested going to the LA zoo so after lunch we headed over there only to find out the zoo parking lots were full so we couldn't even get in. Lucky for us she decided to sleep almost the whole 2 hours we were in the car! So, we drove around for 2 hours only to end up at the park down the street from our house! But she enjoyed it - she loves that park and going down the slide and swinging so it worked. And now that she is so good with spoons and likes frozen yogurt we made our weekly run to Golden Spoon! Yes, we try to keep her away from sweets, this is one of the only sweet treats she gets. If only veggies were as yummy and as easy to eat. Or anything else for that matter. Daddy grilled cheeseburgers for dinner and Kayla took her meat, peeled off the cheese, at the cheese and left the beef. What a picky little girl. So, she had turkey for dinner. She loves turkey deli meat - loves it. But, as long as she's getting some meat in her diet I'm okay. We usually finish it up with some fruit so it's a sort of well rounded meal - if she won't do veggies we at least get the fruit.
Anyway - it was great to be able to spend Easter with Gammy. She is so playful with Kayla and Kayla really loves her and has fun with her. Maybe not all the time, but she's a very moody girl sometimes. Too early to blame it on hormones?? It's nice for us to have family in town too because we always learn from them - oh and they give us a break. :-)
So, G.G., Grandpa Bob, Gammy, the Easter Bunny.... and in a couple weeks Nana will be here and in a month G.G., Great Aunt Amy, and Nana will be back! Lots of visitors! Great times have been and will be had by all! I look forward to many more Easters, fun Easters, family Easters! I am anxious and excited to be a family of 4 - to have two little kids running around, to celebrate holidays with, to watch them grow up and experience life together!
