I have to say, except for the fact that my mom, grandma, and aunt all left the morning of Mother's Day (which kinda defeats the purpose if you ask me) it was an excellent day! Kayla was in such a good mood, very active, and very sweet. She helped dad hand me my presents (a cupcake stand, a couple books, some Ed Hardy perfume, a photo collage and some cards) which was super cute. Well, until she kept putting the perfume in her mouth which we didn't think was a good idea - then she threw a fit. But it was one of the few she threw during the day. Eric was on dad duty on Friday night while us girls were out in Pasadena and I'm pretty sure he took that time to have Kayla sign my card and draw me a picture. Cutest thing ever, even though I know he did the writing. I know that she helped and it seriously brought tears to my eyes. Must be the pregnancy hormones. :-)
We didn't do much most of the day - I was recouperating from a fun filled couple of days with the ladies and was lucky enough to get an hour and a half nap while Kayla slept. Not that that's unusual but it was still nice. It was good to just spend time with her playing - not doing anything in particular. Again - not unusual - just nice.
Eric made us reservations at the Sycamore Inn - a steak house by our place. This is big - it's the first nice restaurant we've been to with her, and Eric isn't usually a fan of taking her out places, especially now that she's a fiesty little girl. But, we survived. She did start to cry when we had to go to the restroom- she does not like confined places (i.e. elevators) and we had to go through two doors to get to the restroom so there was a point there that we were closed in. But I held her and she was okay. She DID NOT want to sit in her high chair and we weren't about to fight with her in the middle of a nice Mother's Day dinner so we just took turns holding her while the other person cut the food. Not the best situation but it worked. We've been to the Sycamore Inn once before - before becoming parents - it's very different with a kid in tow. :-0 But still great!
Anyway - I had a great day and feel very loved by my sweet babies!
