Dad Bicycles 100 Miles!

Today, at the Tour de Foothills, Eric Colvin, father of 2 young children, completed his first 100 mile bicycle ride.  To avid bicyclists this may seem like no great feat but to the world at large this is a huge accomplishment as most people will never ride 100 miles in their lifetime.  After completing the ride in 6.5 hours we caught up with him to ask him a few questions.

TCS: Eric!  Congratulations!  You must feel great!
EW: Aw man, I'm sore.  I do feel great though!  It was a great ride.

TCS:  How do you feel about how you rode today?
EW: Oh, leg cramp.  I feel good, I got a couple leg cramps and had to stretch those out during the ride, but otherwise it was good.  The uphills are rough but coming back down them - that's fun - it's like a reward for all the work getting up them.

TCS:  What made you decide to set this Century ride as your goal?
EW: I needed something to work towards and this seemed like as good a goal as any.  100 miles!  I rode 100 miles... on my bike!  Awesome!

TCS:  Did you face an obstacles during the ride today?
EW: Oh man, I'm tired.  There was a serious head wind in the last 25 miles, which sucked.  Really brought our speed down to a snails pace.  And those damn leg cramps.  If it weren't for those things I think I could have finished an hour earlier.

TCS:  Would you do it again?
EW: There's a Tour de Tuscon next week I'm considering.  (wink wink).

And that folks is a dedicated rider!

And what did mom and the kids do while he was riding - visited McDonalds and the park - what better way to spend a Saturday?

And they were there to see their husband/dad cross the finish line!
