We had a lot of fun this October and it ended with a great (for Kayla and I, not so much for Eric and Tyler) Halloween day! I preface this by saying that Eric spent the day cleaning up our palm tree and porches... and then when it was time to go trick or treating Tyler was so tired he just flipped out and Eric had to take him back inside and miss out on the Trick or Treating. Sad! But... Kayla and I had fun! And our porch looked awesome!
So, first things first... breakfast! I attempted to make orange pumpkin pancakes and brown chocolate pancakes... not enough pumpkin spice and too much cocoa but nothing a little syrup couldn't fix.
While daddy was busy outside we entertained ourselves with some fright tape (whatever that is!).
Kayla obviously enjoyed herself and Tyler spent his couple minutes with it inspecting it.
In the afternoon, we thought Kayla would really enjoy digging into the little pumpkin we got after the pumpkin patch tour, but it turns out she's more like her mom than her dad and wanted nothing to do with it, except to take the top off and on.
It looks like she would have enjoyed it but trust me, she did not.
Unfortunately it was crazy trying to get her dressed for trick or treating. It was kind of a last minute decision to take her. Since she's so young I didn't think she'd enjoy it or get it but thought we'd give it a shot. We went super early, since she's so young... 430pm! Crazy, right? Even my friends who kids go to be between 530 and 6pm went out after dark. But, I didn't want her out with the crazies, or in the dark, or in the cold. Plus, I knew she'd really like handing out the candy so I wanted us to be home for that. So, those are our excuses...
Finally ready to go.
Waiting...
Tyler's ready!
On our way back home after filling up our 2 buckets! Well, really just the blue one. If anyone put anything in her orange one she took it out and put it in the blue one. Since Eric had to go back home with a super tired Tyler, I didn't get any pictures of her at any of the doors. Or smiling... but she did enjoy herself... just not her shoes. They were taken of shortly after this picture.
Her loot!
Enjoying the fruits of her labor. Her favorite treat... cheese and crackers. :-)
While we waited for the rest of the trick or treaters we had a little pizza picnic in the living room. Probably won't be trying that again since it wasn't exactly the cleanest idea I've had.
And, since I didn't want to take pictures of random kids at our door, there are no pictures of her handing out candy. But she loved it! And everyone loved her! Thought she was the cutest little Minnie ever! We actually had a lot of kids this year, which is weird but good since we didn't have much candy left over!
All in all, I think it was a pretty awesome Halloween season. I think next year will be even better!
