A Colvin Thanksgiving

We've spent most Thanksgivings on our own out here in Cali.  Sometimes we've had full Thanksgiving meals, sometimes not.  But, now that we have kiddos I feel like we should definitely have full Thanksgiving meals, and days, even if they are too young to get it.  One day they will and I need some practice before they do.  :-)  Of course, that doesn't mean we're going to make a full on turkey.  No way, Jose!  Thank goodness for Trader Joe's who had a turkey and stuffing meal cooked, frozen, and ready to eat in less than an hour!  For a family with young kids when schedules aren't the best, this was perfect.  But, I'm getting ahead of myself here.

We started out with a yummy crumb cake with eggs, bacon, and the Thanksgiving day parade in the morning (and of course our Thanksgiving Little People toys, thanks to Gammy)!

Kayla and I baked a Paula Dean Pumpkin Cheesecake.  I've found that I need to get all the ingredients ready first so I'm not running around trying to find everything.  So, now I have my very own cooking show in the kitchen!

But it makes it soooo much easier so we can pour and take pics without me losing my mind (completely).

I decided we'd eat Thanksgiving dinner as dinner so we had a little snack and watched some football before naptime....

Tyler decided to get in on the cooking action too!

Finally - we're ready!
Green beans with bacon, mashed potatoes, crescent rolls, and turkey and stuffing.  Yummm
Some more than others!

At least this year no one fell asleep at the table eating!  It was a good day - lots of cooking (doesn't look like a lot but I felt like I cooked all day b/c there's also a spinach artichoke dip not pictured and the breakfast that I didn't show.)  I can only imagine what future bigger Thanksgiving dinners are like!  Oh my!

And it even took me 2 weeks to get this dang post done!  And it wasn't even all that (probably b/c I procrastinated so long that by the time I wrote it I was just ready to be done with it!).  But it gets the point across.  Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

  1. How fun! Kate got a Little People Thanksgiving set this year too!

I love cooking for holiday meals...what I'm not crazy about is cleaning up though!
