If you've been to our house you know there are a ton of books for little Ms. Kayla. More than we know what to do with. Well, I guess that's not true - they are in a bucket upstairs or in the drawers in the cradle stand downstairs. Some are rarely ever read, some are read all the time, some are read a million times and then forgotten about. Some we bought, some were given to us. It's this latter group I wanted to point out. In case you ever wanted to know if Kayla likes the books you give her - the answer is almost always yes.
For Christmas her Uncle Jack gave her a Disney Bedtime Stories book, or "the blue book" as it's called around here. And every night for all of January she had to read out of the blue book. Usually only the Mickey Mouse story or the Cars story but we snuck in a few others as well.
For her birthday Nana gave her a Dora look and find book and once she was "over" the blue book (don't worry, it's come back into rotation recently) she wanted the Dora book every night. And again, not every page (there's only like 7) but just the one about soccer balls (where she can count the jerseys and find the soccer balls) and sometimes the outer space page were read.
Her Great Aunt Amy gave her a look and find book about all kinds of animals, referred to here as "the green book" and for weeks she was obsessed. Where's the green book. What's that? Page after page. Then we hid it. :-)
Grandpa got her a counting book about little bugs and she loves to flip through that one and feel all the little shiny bugs. And G.G. gave her a recordable book, Twinkle Twinkle, and she actually read that one so much the recording is kinda dying. She took it with her in the car and up and down the stairs - it definitely got the most travel.
Currently, while we're starting the potty training process, we're reading a Boot's Birthday Surprise, a counting book Nana gave her (I think). We read it every time we go to the bathroom. Sometimes multiple times. "Just one more time" she says. Uh huh. Sure.
G.G. also sent along some free books she got out of Cheerios boxes, one of which is about a bug on a jug or some other rhyme and that's also a favorite because every other page she can yell "jump". Gabby was here this weekend and I'm sure she read it to her 57 times.
Sometimes you see in the pictures the toys she's playing with but rarely do you see the books she's reading. I just wanted to make sure everyone knew how much she loves her books, how much use they are getting, and what great gifts they are to her. She's gonna be like her mama. :-)
