March Family Time

I think Eric and I are tired of staying home with the kids.  Well, it's probably really just me who's tired of staying home.  Kayla's getting easier to take places, Tyler is still easy (I'm sure he'll get hard to cart around soon enough) and since she's getting older I feel like we should be out doing more things.  It's not always easy, and in fact it's usually not easy, but at least we're out, enjoying ourselves, and exposing the kids to new things.  So, this month we went to...

The OC Zoo and Railroad
We made the drive down south to check out what appears to be the worlds tiniest zoo!  Not really but it was really small!  But it had a little petting zoo and just enough animals to sort of keep Kayla's interest.  And it was only $2 so okay.  Then we headed over to a little railroad they have there because, well, all kids love little trains.  Tyler was falling asleep and Kayla was headed that way by the time we got into the train but we made it around the park and into the car without toooooo many problems.  Great park really, but too far away for us to spend too many weekends there.  But it was nice to check out at least once!

Checkin out the chickens

Checkin out the fence

The March Field Air Museum
Our family event for Luna Club was visiting this museum down the street from the March Airfield.  We were supposed to be on a tour but we spent most of the time chasing the kids.  But it was still interesting to see all the old planes and see the inside of a plane.  We even got to take a picture in front of the same type of plane that Grandad flew in Korean War, an A26.  I was glad they had one on display - I hadn't seen one before.

That's a big plane

This is more my size

So this is what the inside looks like...

And this is what this button does...

Family picture in front of the same kind plane Grandad flew - A26.  Tyler's too busy checking out the plane to take a picture.

We  had lunch with friends after and the girls played around in this fountain - they loved it!

A Lil Kickers Soccer Open House

The local soccer club has classes for 18 months and up so I figured we'd take Ms. Kayla down and see if she'd like it (along with Savanna and Marissa).  They let you sit in on a class so you can see what it's really like.  We ended up sitting in on one that was younger than one she'd be in and they did things that I wouldn't say had anything to do with soccer except coordination but hey, it was fun.  They chased balls, they played with bubbles, they played with parachutes - it was a good way to spend an hour.  They also had bounce houses there that day, which Kayla normally loves, but she was having a rough day and we didn't actually get to enjoy those much.  Next time...

What?  You don't use parachutes in soccer?

Soccer clowns!

What's in here?

The Riverside Air Show
After going to the museum Eric was talking about how much she likes air shows and there happened to be one going on at the end of March.  So, we headed over there.  It was actually quite chilly but we bundled up and headed out.  I'll tell you what, we've been to an airshow pre kids and air shows with kids is sooooo much different than without them.  Ha ha ha.  We couldn't barely watch the planes.  Because it requires that you stare up into the sky for several minutes at a time and kids require that you, um, stare at them every minute of the day.  :-)  But it was a small air show and we were actually able to watch some and get Kayla to even watch some of them.  Especially the fun ones where they did loops and twirls.  We got some cute pictures and Kayla got to sit in another helicopter and plane and we got to spend some time outside.

This has nothing to do with the airshow, except that it was taken there, but it's just a really cute picture!

Proof that we were at an airshow.  :-)

It was pretty cold so daddy was holding a bundled up Tyler.

Say cheese!

Fun plane tricks!

More proof!

It was a lot of fun being out with the family.  We're trying to figure out how to make it work, always debating whether to take the single or the double, when to wear him in the carrier, what food we need to bring, what supplies to bring, etc.  But we're working on it.  There's surely more to come in April!
