Yes, you read that right! A couple weeks ago I noticed Tyler trying really hard to move from one piece of furniture to another. And he had been walking along the walls, cabinets, chairs, etc like crazy. He couldn't get enough of this walking business but just hadn't figured out how to do it on his own! Well, that's changed. He's not walking more than a couple feet at a time but he's definitely walking on his own. He actually does best when no one is watching and he's got something he really wants to get to - like a door or a toy. Walking to me he just gets really excited and falls over. Ha ha ha. This weekend he walked the furthest yet, about 5 or 6 feet from a wall to the door of the cabin (he really likes to be outside so if there's a screen door he's on it like a hawk!
Last night we decided to try to get this walking business on camera. Kayla was incredibly hyper after her 3 hour nap (late in the afternoon) so she was all over the place. That made Tyler a little hype so he didn't take more than a few steps at a time but we kept trying. Watch all the way to the end of the video - that's when he walks the longest. And you should probably turn your volume low - like I said, Kayla was really hyper so she's screaming a lot in the video.
And, don't worry, when she falls in the video - she's fine. Eric and I actually laugh when we watch the video and see her fall. I know, we're horrible parents to laugh at our falling daughter, but if you knew how much she fell and how little she actually hurts herself, you'd learn to laugh too. As I'm writing this she just took a step back and fell into a suitcase. ha ha ha. Along the same lines, he never actually hits anything when he falls- it just looks like it. You'd know it if he hit something - he cries like a, well, baby. Be ready to gasp a few times. :-)
Okay, now, after further ado...
Nice!!! And if it makes you feel better, or give you a laugh, I was laughing at my son last night at 2am when he was screaming/crying hysterically, you know when they hit those really really high notes, and you think geeze kid, you're fine, just go back to sleep.
ReplyDeleteTwo mobile little ones. Ack! Now he'll veer left and she'll go right and what do you do? :)
