(wrote this on Nov 13, don't know why I never published...)
If you were to talk to Kayla right now you would be amazed at what she says and how she says it. AH-MAZED! She doesn't stop... At all... Ever. Ha ha. And she's pronouncing words so much more clearly. She finally got a handle on the s consonant words. She can now say sparkle and spin with the best of them. She can say just about any word you ask her too. If you are with her when you're talking to her (not on the phone) you can understand just about everything she says... If you can follow her train of thought.
It's more like a roller coaster of thoughts tho. Up and down, round and round, starts sometimes in the middle, sometimes at the end, and sometimes it's all mixed up... but I can usually work it out because i know what she's trying to say. But when she's on a single train of thought, she can spew forth some pretty complex thoughts.
The moon is up so the sun is down. First we went here, then we saw so and so, then we played with play dough. Where are we going first- To the park or to gymnastics? (She loves to know the sequence of things.) I don't want a corn dog I want a cheese burger. No pickles. With ketchup and mustard. Tyler wants a cheese burger too. (we eat a lot of burgers. Ha ha). It's crazy to hear the things that come out of her mouth.
Theres a lot of times when she says something that is so adult or so teenage or so 5 year old that eric and i just laugh. Sometimes its not so good because she's learning to not tell the truth. (really? I thought i had a few more years on this fun skill!) The other day she wanted to get daddy his gum. We told her probably 6 or 7 times that he didn't want/need his gum, that she needed to put it down and get out of the drawer. Finally she said "but I'm not getting gum, I just wanted to see what these were" pointing to some paper clips or something. Really? You weren't going for the gum this whole time. Uh huh. I was impressed and surprised at the same time. Luckily, when she does something she knows she's not supposed to and I ask her about it she still admits to doing it. Ha ha. But, most of the time it's her really trying to communicate everything that's going on in that little head of hers and it is so funny and so sweet and just a little heartbreaking.
And to that end- here are a few of my favorite Kayla quotes from the last month.
Kayla- Fog! Move out of the way so I can see better.
Mommy- Kayla, I love you.
Kayla- I love you too.
Mommy- Do you really? Or do you just say it?
Kayla- I just say it.
Kayla- mommy can I have another cookie?
Mom- No.
Kayla- But Tyler wants a cookie.
Mom- No, he doesn't.
Kayla- Yea he does. Tyler say more. {Tyler claps, our sign for more.} See, he said more.
Mom- We have to go get cream for your booty.
Kayla- But but but, cream is for strawberries! (she loves whip cream with strawberries)
We came home from dinner one day to find eric doing a workout video. Kayla said she wanted to do it, even asked for one of the things the people were holding (dumbbell. We gave her a remote. Ha ha). After trying a few of the exercises (mountain climbers, jumping jacks, rows, bicep curls) we had the following conversation
Kayla- I'm done.
Mommy- Why, they are still exercising?
Kayla- My shoulder back hurts.
Mommy- Why?
Kayla- Because I've been exercising all day.
Love that she is communicating so well and that she is growing up to be such a fun/funny girl!
