Oakland Athletics

Well - if we never go back to Oakland it'll be okay. The game was fun. When they announce the ump's at the beginning of the game everyone shouts "Oh no!". The Athletics played the Minnesota Twins. Oakland won - 1-0 but it was a short game, only 1 hr 49 minutes, and the one run was scored in the 6th inning. There's not much else to say about the game though.

Oakland was freezing and there wasn't really anything to do. I met Eric at the airport - he was flying in from Reno - we checked into the hotel, had lunch, then headed to the game. The next day we decided to head down to the Buttercup Cafe - a great breakfast joint and then to Jack London Square.
They were having a Farmers Market but we were trying to find the "Floating White House" aka U.S.S Potomac that FDR used during his time in the White House to both relax and do business.
The tour was interesting - the boat was very much not Presidential and most of it had been renovated because the boat had changed hands over the years including being included in drug smuggling and drowning. But, it was still interesting to hear the history of it. After a quick stop at Starbucks we decided to go over to San Francisco - surely there was more going on there.

It was warmer there but only in the sun really. We hung out in Union Square - in a little park there. Other than the men shouting on the corner about how the war was illegal, it was a relaxing afternoon but I so wish I had made earlier flight reservations - for 2 reasons. 1 there was nothing to do in Oakland and not much time to spend in SF. 2 - our flight was delayed over an hour b/c an earlier flight had problems with it's landing gear. Ughhh!
