Happy Birthday to Me!

Well, it seems I have officially embarked on a) the last year of my 20s and b) my 3rd decade! It seems strange and normal at the same time to be 29. 29? Where did the years go? 29? I'm still really young! 29? Am I doing what I want to be doing? 29? I still have time to figure out what I want from life! 29! I finally have the baby I've wanted for years... and oh what a sweet thing that is! 29! And I'm married to the perfect guy for me... loving and infuriating all at once! 29! So far so good!

Alright enough with the Deep Thoughts with Katie... on to what the day held for me! The girls in my office are really great. We usually decorate each other's desks with streams, balloon, confetti, etc...and mine is always pink!

Because there are 3 other people on our team with July birthday's we usually don't do something for mine specifically but 2 people did bring me cupcakes, another an apple croissant, and another made brownies that morning so they were still warm! I guess I'll start the diet MONDAY! :) I got a ton of "happy birthday" messages on Facebook and phone calls from the family so all in all I was feeling pretty loved during the day. Eric and I had decided in the afternoon that we'd go out to dinner with a train friend of mine but we changed our mind on the way there. I was a little frustrated by stuff that happened at work (and about changing our mind on dinner) so when I got home all I wanted to do was play with my little girl to put a smile back on my face. BUT!

I walked in and Eric had picked up the kitchen and the living room so it was nice and neat. Funny how we mainly only clean when there's something to celebrate. :) He also had party hats and party blower thingys on the table along with a gift and 2 cards - one from him and one from Kayla. We had some fun with the hats and the blower thingys and then Eric brought out a cake - lit with 27 candles (couldn't get to the last 2 b/c it was so hot! Guess that means I'm old when you can't even light all the candles!).

After singing Happy Birthday Eric went to go get us some Burger King (remember - dinner plans were canceled) and I fed Kayla. After our delicious burgers (I swear - Burger King has THE BEST burgers!) it was time to open presents. I opened up Kayla's card first - which she then proceeded to eat...apparently green cardstock is yummy! Then came Eric's which was super sweet - didn't let Kayla have that one. The the icing on the cake, so to speak, was his gift to me... a new engagement/wedding ring...an upgrade of sorts since when we got married we had zero money. The ring is absolutely gorgeous and I think (though I haven't verified) it's a combo Kayla's birth, 1st Mother's Day, and 29th Birthday present all rolled in to one! It's all new and shiny and sparkly! We spent the evening alternating between playing with Kayla (who was quite hyper and in a great mood) and staring at the ring. All in all I think it was the best birthday ever! Now...what's he going to do for 30???? :-)

Alright - soon enough both Eric and Kayla are going to wake up so I need to get a move on. Here's to a great 30th year!

(oh - there she is! perfect timing!)
