Accomplishments!

So, in the last couple days Kayla started pushing herself into a sitting position all by herself. I think maybe Thursday or Friday was the first time we saw it. And I tried so hard to get it on camera today but haven't been able to. Caught a lot of other random stuff on there but not that.

And then today, after her afternoon nap (one of them anyway) I brought her downstairs to show dad the outfit I put her in... I stood her up in front of him and she said "da da"! Now, I know she wasn't actually saying daddy but still... a little too coincidental. She proceeded to say "da" all afternoon. This is a welcome relief after the months of "aaaaaaaaaa". That's all we've heard... beginning to think that's all she would ever say! But today I heard "da" and "la"... amongst the raspberries she's started up again.

Oh, that's another thing. Yesterday she kept doing the raspberries so I would do them back to her and a few times she seemed to mimic me and do them back to me. Yes, I realize she was doing them already - but you can just tell. It was really cute.

Ohhh... and she's so much better at eating! I don't know if we just finally found something she liked or she finally got the hang of it but she's sucked down carrots and pears this week like it was nobody's business! Yay, Kayla! (Now, she's refusing her bottle a lot more though but I guess you gotta just take the good with the bad. :) )

And, finally, she's SO CLOSE to crawling y'all! Today I swear she even took one little crawling "step"... actually moved one leg and one hand. She has a hard time moving those arms. She gets up, pushes off her legs to go forward and then just kind of falls on top of her hands. I really think we're only days away.

She usually stops whatever she's doing that I wanted on camera as soon as I get the camera out. So, there's not a whole lot on video right now. But, I promise I'm not lying and one day I'll be able to show you what I'm talking about. Until then, you just have to trust me.

I've posted a few new pics and videos - including her 6 month pictures (that's what the new pics start with - her professional pictures). Tomorrow we're going to the beach so I'll be in touch again soon! Enjoy!!!

P.S. a few more quirks that I forgot to add...

• she likes to chew on straps (it started with wrist rattles and sunglass straps, but now it's also the car seat straps, the camera strap too.)
• has a new obsession with feet, shoes, and socks - anyone's - she wants to be near them all!
• she likes to stare at lights and light fixtures...she's kind of moved away from the fans now that she found light. :)
