6 month visitors

So, here we are, 6 months later and what do we have? The cutest "little" 18 pound, 27 inch, 6 month old girl you ever saw - that's what! Kayla turned 6 months old last Wednesday and we spent the day with one of my BFFs from HS - Kristy (Edwards) Hixon. Kayla was on her best behavior that evening so it was a good night for all of us. They were in town visiting family and celebrating their anniversary, but I'm glad they were able to stop by and spend Kayla's 1/2 birthday with us! Too bad we didn't get any pictures!

Then, just a few days later Aunt Amy and Adam came to town and they proved to be quite entertaining. Adam's hair, glasses, and facial expressions mesmerized Kayla while Amy's kisses and swimming lessons kept Kayla guessing as to whether Amy was mean or not. :)

I say that because we decided to dunk Kayla underwater in the pool since Amy had done this before with several other 6 month olds. The first day we did it 3 times and Kayla was fine - the 2nd day she was not a fan and could only be consoled by me... which I have to say was nice. She hasn't really been in that situation before (uncomfortable, not in pain) and so obviously wanted to be held by me. It was really cute, except that she was crying. Needless to say we didn't try that much on the 2nd day.

Other than that I don't really have a lot to blog about, really. I put captions on all her pictures so they do the talking for me this week. She's still creeping along... she's started to try to move her legs while she's up rocking but just manages to catapult herself forward b/c she doesn't know how to move her arms too. Oh, and I forgot a couple other quirky things on last week's list... a) she puts her hands in her mouth when she gets excited and b) she only holds on to her right foot - could care less about the left one.

On the food front she wasn't a huge fan of peas, sweet potatoes, or banana's, but she's a big fan of carrots. Must remember to stock up! She sucks those down like it's nobody's business. I'm glad it's carrots, but I can't feed her too many for fear that she'll become our little orange baby!

Oh, and Eric has started an exercise routine - a combination of Jillian's workout video and riding his bike. He's been doing pretty good the last couple weeks - getting in 20-45 minutes of exercise almost every day. I have even sat down with Kayla next to him and she did modified versions of the work out - baby situps, bounces, whatever I could make her do. Other times she just sat and stared at him - probably wondering what the heck was going on. :) (I have a pic of that but I didn't get it uploaded yet). I, on the other hand, came down with a cold so I haven't been all that interested in working out. One day I will - when I finally get rid of this stupid cough that's lingering around. I'm excited too about doing a video I bought from MyGym for her and I to play/exercise together. It said 6 months+ so it's about that time. One of these days I'll break it out.

And, my final note... Kayla is officially sleeping through the night. In the last 20 or so days she's only woken up twice and both times she went back to sleep pretty quickly. So, yay for full night's sleep!

I guess that's about it. Enjoy the pictures! I think there are a lot of cute/funny ones this time. She's definitely showing her personality these days and it's a lot of fun to watch! I haven't scanned in all her pics from her 6 month pictures yet (b/c some of them are framed) but I will get to that this weekend and send out an email when they've been added to the 7 month album. Enjoy!

  1. We had so much fun with her! I commented to Kevin that I forgot to take pictures while we were there! Hopefully we will see you next time we are there!
