Kayla,
You turned 10 months old this Sunday and I cannot even believe you will 1 in 2 short months. We went to the doctor for your check up a couple weeks ago and everything is great. You are in the 75th percentile for both height and weight, no big surprise there. So here are the 9.5 month stats.

Height: 28.5 inches
Weight: 21.5 lbs, WHOA!
Legs: CHUNKY!!
~You are such a joy to everyone around you.
~You smile at people you know and stare at people you don't.
~You crawl really fast, sometimes with your head down so you scare mommy because you don't always stop before you run into things - like walls and corners!
~You you pull up on everything - e.v.e.r.y.thing. You've been doing this for 3 months now so you're very adept at it.
~You haven't yet mastered the art of standing on your own, but you think it's funny when mom tries to make you stand and you fall forward into her arms. I think you'll probably do that for a while now that it's a game.
~You are still a great eater, in fact it seems I can't keep you full for long. You've now also tried pita bread, watermelon, cantaloupe, and you love to eat whole bananas. No banana pieces for you. At Thanksgiving you even tried a little bit of turkey.
~You sleep from about 8:00 at night to about 6 in the morning, and you nap twice a day, if we're lucky. Or just one long (think 3 hours) nap in the middle of the day.

~You do not like organization. Everything must be out of it's place, if blocks are lined up you have to mess them up, you don't want things stacked, nothing should be in order.
~You have learned how to scream as if you're being eaten alive whether you're asleep or awake . I'm sure our neighbors have thought about calling Child Protective Services. I can only imagine what the terrible 2s will be like.
~You get really upset when you see Dad's cell phone but he doesn't let you play with it. You even have your own but that doesn't seem to matter - you want his and only his!
~You love to be outside and have enjoyed playing with other kids and even dogs. Though I'm afraid you're going to choke the dogs because you like to grab your stuffed animals by the neck and dogs look just like stuffed animals. Only they'll lick your face. You're not to sure about that feature. :)
~We taught you a trick (sort of). When I flip you over my head and let you slide down my back, you hold on until you land on your feet then squeal with delight at your new roller coaster ride!
~You're favorite sleeping position is on your stomach, with your knees and arms curled up under you. I tried it once - so not comfortable for me - but you sleep that way 90% of the time.

~You really like getting your teeth brushed and make funny faces while daddy tries to get all sides of your 5.5 teeth. You might actually like the ride up to the bathroom even more because mommy is always following right behind as daddy takes you up and you think I'm chasing you. That's when we really get you laughing... no matter how many times I do it you still think it's the funniest thing in the whole world.
~You talk ALL THE TIME. I know you must think you're saying something but all we hear is da. That's right - for month's all we've heard is da da da da. Although in the last few days you've added a "t" to the end of that so that now you say "dat" all the time. I think you're going to be like mommy - no talking and no hair for a long time then you'll never be quiet and you'll have a thick head of hair.
~You love playing with mommy's hair - if you consider pulling playing.

~You do not like having things on your head/face - hoods, hats, sunglasses - nothing. You rip them right off! And even though we live in Southern California, it does still get cold so I'm going to have to figure out a way to get the hats on you this winter.
~You're favorite gesture is pointing and it makes you really laugh when someone touches your fingers.
~You're getting the hang of clapping. You can definitely do it but you just don't do it often. You seem tentative of new skills and it takes you a little while to get used to them. But once you get the hang of it, oh boy, watch out!
~You've even practiced waving a few times though that skill seems to have fallen off your radar. But it was here for a few days and I'm sure it'll come back.

~You don't have a favorite book or anything but your favorite toys are your little plastic or wooden blocks that you can bang together, knock over, and chew on as well as your monkey that Gammy gave you. I put you down in the living room and one of the first things you do is go get those blocks. And when we put you in the car and give you Monkey you hug and squeeze it and chew on it's paw.
~You have figured out what you can feel in your books - the soft blankets or lambs or slippers, etc. You know exactly where to go to feel the different materials.
~You've learned to open cabinets and you LOVE to slam the doors. Open. Slam. Open. Slam. Open. Slam. Until mommy goes crazy!
~You became a big fan of mommy's pots and pans - you'll drag and push the pots all over the kitchen floor (which is tile and so is VERY loud!). But at least one of us is using those things! :)
~You make your Daddy and I happier than we have ever been and we love you more than you can imagine.
Happy 10 months little princess!
