Someone learned their K's recently. No, she can't say her name, yet, but she's definitely completed some words. Now, instead of "mi" we had "milK" for a while, now we have "mack". I have no idea why it's changed. Instead of "wa" we have "walK". I think this might have come about because she learned "Eck" for "Eric", which is super cute. She calls up the stairs or asks for him when he's gone by calling for dada or "eck". Anyway, back to the point, she learned Ks. Only insofar as ending words with "k" - work, walk, milk, book, and back - but it's progress.
Beyond K's she also uses words to insist on things... sit, sit, sit, sit. Mote, mote, mote, mote. Mack, mack, mack, mack. Ya ya, ya ya, ya ya, ya ya. Everything is repeated until she gets what she wants, or you at least acknowledge that she's saying something. It's funny, but it's not. I also love that she's making up words. Nu nu for noodle is adorable! Faba for just about anything in the world - not so adorable. Do do after you give her something, as her way of saying Thank you - adorable. Re for any and every color, and I for any and every letter - sorta adorable.
Right now, I love that she's talking. I'm sure someday soon I will eat those words. But for a while there when all we had was aaaaa or dadadada I was sure we'd never hear anything else come out of her mouth. Now I know that's not true. It seems there are new words every day or so and we are always trying to get her to repeat us (which, we will soon regret as well), to increase her vocabulary. It's coming along at it's own pace and I'm very pleased with her abilities. She tries, even if it's just the number of syllables that she gets right, she tries. And I'm loving it. She's a lot of fun now... and a lot of work... but a lot of fun! Stay tuned for the post in the next couple months entitled "Why won't she shut up!?!?"
