The Next Mary Lou

That's right folks - we're starting early on our road to the Olympics!  Our girl is going for the gold in gymnastics!  A local gymnastics place has classes for kids walking - 3, as well as preschool open gym times each week, and Lunch Bunch once a month where they have crafts and lunch along with their gym time.  We've tried each of these things once.  I can't sign her up for classes right now because I have no idea when Tyler will actually be asleep, and since there is HEAVY parent involvement he has to be asleep.  And by HEAVY I mean HEAVY!  I think it's more of a work for for me than it is for her.  That involvement has kept me from getting very many pictures but I try.

She is such a big girl sitting with everyone else listening to directions.

She and I both love this foam pit!  It's just a trampoline with mounds of foam blocks on top.  Serious fun for her, serious stress reliever when I get to throw her around in there!

They even have this rope that the older kids can swing on and jump off of into the pit.  Kayla's too young but we did get her to kinda swing on it.

And she even jumped off the edge into the pit all by herself!  It's about 3 feet I guess from the edge to the blocks!  The girl has no fear (or sense!).

We also tried some balance beams

And the trampoline!

We're going back for Lunch Bunch when Great Grandad and Great Granny Carole are in town next weekend - maybe we'll have more pictures!

She absolutely loves it - wears her out!  Wears me out!  Because obviously she can't do this stuff all on her own.  The coaches are very good and so helpful.  There are always obstacle course set up and specific things to do - it's not just a free for all.  But I kinda wish the open gym wasn't for walking - 5 years old - the older kids can really run over the younger ones.  But we are just careful - as careful as you can be with a toddler running lose!

I'm just glad I found out about this place.  For $5 you get to wear your kid out, get them some exercise, and have fun doing it!  I love it!  And, more importantly, so does she!

  1. That looks so fun -- I really want to find a place like this for Kate!

So far the only ones I've heard about are for 3 and up or I'd have to take her to a My Gym type place.
