Mr. Man is growing up! He is now awake a lot more though he's not getting the whole napping thing down real well yet as he still wakes up after only about 40-60 minutes, which according to The No Cry Nap Solution is called a "one cycle sleeper" meaning he only sleeps for 1 sleep cycle. So, I work on that sometimes, mainly during the midday nap when Kayla is also asleep so I have the time to get him back to sleep. Though I fear I'm starting him on some bad sleep habits like using the pacifier or me to go to sleep. He doesn't always need them but I think he prefers them. Oh well.
He's also more smiley, though I don't think as much as Kayla was at this age. And you can tell from his 3 month pictures that he wasn't really in the mood to smile yesterday.
Of course, he doesn't like loud noises - that for sure makes him cry - and right before the pictures Kayla dropped her laptop on the tile bathroom at Picture People which really set him off.
He is starting to grab for his animal toys on his play mat and hold on to them. And he's pretty good at holding onto his rattles. We have to put them into his hands but he certainly gets a grip on them.
He is loving the TV, just like Kayla did at this age. His bald spot isn't as pronounced as hers was, nor is his hair as crazy, but they both have roles in "the bald and the beautiful"!
He loves to watch his sister doing whatever it is she's doing. He will watch her/follow her all over the room and sometimes gets really excited when she comes over by him to sit down and play.
He's certainly found his hand. He's always staring at the right one, watching it move. He generally keeps his hands closed, likes to keep a hold on that thumb, so he just watches that fist go back and forth. Or, ya know, eats his hands. They are constantly in his mouth, at various angles and configurations. It's fun to watch!
He will suck in that bottom lip, and I don't mean just a little bit... he's dang near his chin when he sucks it in!
He's pretty relaxed most of the time, but man, if you let him get too tired or too hungry he can seriously wail! I mean, hurt your ears wail! And all of a sudden. He's just sitting there one second and he's got this piercing scream/cry. It's funny and sad at the same time. Luckily he doesn't do that too often (I mean, once every couple of days.) Other than that he doesn't really cry that much. I know, I've said that before, and I'm probably jinxing myself, but it's true.
At this point we've ditched the swaddle. It didn't seem to help him sleep any longer in the last couple of weeks. I don't know. I might try it again. He used to only wake up once a night, but the last few weeks he's been waking up 2-3 times and that's draining!
He's still not on a schedule of any kind for sleeping. Only for eating. And oh boy is he a super eater. Still nursing only, and still for only about 5-10 minutes. Makes me nervous that he's not getting enough but I guess if he were hungry he'd be a lot fussier. We'll see next month when we go in for his 4 month appt is he's gaining enough weight.
He can still wear a couple newborn outfits but I think he's mainly in 0-3 now, and the 3 month size will fit him soon though currently still a little baggy. He looks big to me but apparently he's not that big.
We got out the surfboard tummy time mat and he sorta enjoys it, though he doesn't really like being on his tummy period so tummy time doesn't last long. My fault, probably, for not doing it much at all early on. But we work on it.
I think that's about it. I'm sure he's about to wake up from his nap now that I'm done with my two blogs. Off to have some fun with his smiling little face with the cutest cheeks ever!
