20 going on 21 (months)

Well, seems time got away from me and I'm a week late writing Kayla's 20 month post and haven't even started on Tyler's 3 month post (and he's 3 months today!).  Usually I start these suckers at least a week or two in advance so I can work on it over a few days to try to make sure I remember everything (and I still usually forget a few things).  So, we'll see how this works out.

What does our little girl do/know now?

About the same things she was doing last month.  Still obsessed with stickers and crayons.  Still loves to give her brother kisses on his head.  Still tries to lay down wherever we're putting him down.  Is still helpful with Tyler - gets his diapers, pacifier, burp cloths, etc.  Still likes to play in the sandbox (what toddler doesn't?).

She does, however, think you're always talking to her and will answer you if she can.  She finally says "yea" or "yes" instead of "uh" and that's her answer to EVERYTHING!

She does not like goats!  Do not even try to take her into a yard full of goats!  (See LA County Fair post for background.)

She's into patterns, at least with her blocks.  She likes to put similar shaped and colored blocks together.  Similarly, she likes to line things up. I think we have a little OCD girl on our hands!

She can name many of her family members - Nana, GG, Papa, Mommy, Daddy, and Tyler (Tylo) and a couple of her friends (Cooper, Bradley, Zazu (Zoe)).

She still loves to get on our backs and tell us where to go in the house.  Course, she's loved that for a while - telling us where to go.  Some of her friends are quite demanding of their parents so I assume it only gets worse from here.

She's really into not doing what I ask her to do (or doing what I ask her not to do).

She can punish herself.  :-)  She almost headbutted me but I moved and told her that wasn't nice and that it hurt people.  She said "sit?" and went and sat down in her timeout spot and fake cried.

She's very interested in her diapers - likes to inspect them, when I take them off her.  Wonder how much longer I can hold out on potty training - or how much longer I need to hold off on potty training.  Would really like to not do it until we get back from the TX trip - all we need is her (and us) running back and forth to the bathroom on the plane or having to stop every 20 minutes on a car ride somewhere!

She likes to play with the older kids at the park or wherever we are.  And, luckily, most of the time they like to play with her, though not always.

Likes going for car rides now.  It used to be that she haaaaaated getting in the car and now she really likes going "bye bye".

She is into picking out her own outfits now (even says "outfit") which may or may not be a good thing, especially this week when it's cold out and she has a VERY limited number of things for cool weather.  Gotta go shopping!!!!

She's obsessed with Curious George - every time the TV is on or whenever the mood strikes her she asks "monkey?".  Though I'm beginning to think that maybe that's what she calls the TV because I turned on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse the other day and now she says "mouse?" and "monkey?" but she wants to watch Mickey Mouse.  Either way - it's proof that I've gone over to the dark side and let her watch more TV!

Is really growing into her role as big sister - she's usually very good with Tyler.  Took some doing and getting used to but we're getting there.

At this age there's not a whole lot new each month, but I'm going to keep trying the monthly updates.  We'll see how long they last with her.  Maybe just up until 2 years old.
