The first Friday of the month we have a picnic in the park and get to feed the ducks.
It's a little nerve wracking for me because of how often and how easily Kayla falls over. Plus, having to hold Tyler and trying to make sure Kayla doesn't take a header into the water is just a little uncomfortable. But we did it and no one fell. Success!
Sometimes we have to shift kids around in the strollers and on a couple occasions Kayla's ridden with Kennedy (or KK as her parents call her). She behaves better in others strollers so it works for me.
While the big kids are playing the little kids are hanging out on the blankets.
Tyler and Charlie, who are a month apart, are super cute in their stripped hats, checkin each other out. I love it!
For Valentine's we had a little party and I of course dressed Kayla up in a pink tunic with hearts on it. She had a lot of fun running around, eating Vday sweets, and getting her Valentine's. She even made the Valentines we gave to other kids.
Since it was Valentine's, Stroller Strides had a couples class - to prove to the guys just how hard the workouts are.
We even had a 2-hand touch football game afterwards that Eric and I played in while the kids played on the playground. That was definitely a lot of working out that day! But we had a lot of fun!
February was National Children’s Dental Health Month so we took the kids to see/meet the dentist. Kayla had been before, last year, so she made sure to show everyone how it's done. She really liked that frog chair!
The girls all had fun running around with their balloons and yelling at each other. The dentist, for his part, gave a little spiel about when to take the kids to the dentist and what happens during the visit. He talked about how to brush the kids teeth and even let the kids practice on stuffed animals. Then he took everyone on a little trip around the office so they could see everything and hopefully not be scared when they had to come for an actual visit. (I know that the two girls in this picture went for a visit within weeks of our field trip and Savy did well but Marissa screamed the whole time. You win some you lose some. :-) )
At the end of the month we have a birthday party for all the kids who had birthdays during the month and this month Kim, Savy's mom, brought the pinata she forgot to use at Savy's actual birthday party. Several kids took swings at the pinata but Kayla wasn't having any of it. But she's no fool, she got right in there and got the candy even staying long after all the other kids had gone back to playing to make sure all the candy was picked up. Now it's mama's stash of candy in the car. :-)
Savy, like Kayla, doesn't like to take naps, or if she does she takes them late (like Kayla) so we are almost always the last people at the park. But the girls love to play together so it works. After the birthday party they were running around with their balloons and Kim and I had a grand time taking pictures of the two of them. Really - what could be cuter???
We've got a lot planned for March too so this may have to be a monthly blog post to keep updated on everything we're doing because Lord knows I can't stay on top of it as the events happen!
