I haven't written about Kayla in a while. Probably because there's so dang much to write about! Maybe one day I'll get with the program and start writing down my thoughts on my handy dandy iPhone so I don't forget it all by the time I sit down to write - you know - 8 years later! Anyway... on with the show...
She is quite the little parrot these days! She repeats EVERYthing we say. Well, not everything, but it sure seems like everything. And when it's not correct (she didn't understand or she doesn't know the right word) it makes us laugh. Tonight Eric said "I love mommy." and Kayla said "I love mommy." Then Eric said "She's my wife." Kayla said "She's my life." Awww, how cute.
She's also into pretending - constantly making us lunch or cupcakes in her little kitchen. Some days she insists on making me melon, or shopping for a melon for me. Why, I don't know, but she does.
She counts everything! Stickers, trees, her crayons, pages of a book... breaths she takes. :-) I don't know. I can't believe how much she counts. Today I heard her counting up into the 20s.
Her singing is getting much better. She's not as shy about doing it. In fact she sings the ABC's all day every day! And every once in a while she'll get something else about the song right. For example she used to say "Neck to you me." instead of "Next time won't you sing with me?" Now she says "Next time what sing with me." It's getting better. She still skips letters but she'll get there. She'll also throw in Twinkle Twinkle Little Star or Happy Birthday sometimes. And when she hears songs from her kids cd she'll sing along. She loves "I'm a Nut" and "Skit a ma rink a dink a dink, skit a ma rink a do, I love you!" and "Hunk of Tin" (Honk honk rattle rattle rattle crash beep beep).
She'll sometimes start imitating Mine or Eric's stretching or exercises - even sometimes using the same tubes I use. Savy has been doing this for a while and is getting more advanced - doing lunges and squats. Kayla's attempting those but hasn't quite got the hang of them yet.
She wants to do everything herself, or everything that you're doing, or eat what we're eating, or eat what Tyler is doing... always. She likes to share, sometimes, though so we or Tyler gets what she's eating too.
All in all I guess what I'm trying to say is... she's growing up. Adorably. She's a handful and is suddenly hyper aaaaaaalllllll the time so it's trying, especially for someone who doesn't have constant energy. But I just remember that it's fun to watch. And it'd be so great to have that same energy so never to squelch it.
I put together a little slideshow that I call - All In A Days Work. Some of the fun/funny stuff she's been doing lately. Enjoy!
