**** Another long one!*****
Well, this isn't really 9 1/2 weeks but I liked the title. :) She's officially 9 weeks and 1 day old, or 2 months and 5 days depending on how you count. Usually I like talk only about what happened Friday thru Thursday but I'm going to go thru Friday this time because she had her 2 month doctors appointment today.
First things first... this was our first week at work/daycare and I've got to say it wasn't horrible.

First things first... this was our first week at work/daycare and I've got to say it wasn't horrible.
I had my last doctors appointment Monday morning so Eric and I dropped her off at 7am at daycare - 30 minutes later than I usually will. I had already taken her up there so we didn't have to do too much orienting. I have to admit that there were a couple tears after I left her but that's to be expected. I didn't bawl or scream or sob - it was literally just a couple. Once I got to work and got situated I was okay - except when people asked "how are you holding up?" or "do you miss your baby?". The comments just made me want to run back and hold her. But, I made it through. And had things gone as Eric had planned he would have pulled off probably his best surprise yet. He had ordered me flowers from Kayla and wrote the sweetest note telling me that she was ok at daycare. Unfortunately, the building folks told the delivery man that I didn't work there so I didn't get them until the next day. :( But it was still a super-sweet thought.
I have to say Wednesday was what I would consider to be a perfect working mom day. I was super busy and productive at work. I felt like I was doing some good, using my brain, being helpful and necessary. Then I came home, we had dinner, and spent some time the three of us just talking and goofing off. After Eric gave her her bath and I put her to bed I cleaned up the kitchen, read a chapter in my book, and went to bed by 10:30. I hope there are many more days and nights like that. I wish I didn't have a 2 hour commute but for now that's what we have to deal with and I think that makes my couple of hours a day with her even more special.
For now I'm taking off a couple Fridays a month so I have 3 days a week with her - after this summer though I don't know that that will continue... we'll have to see how things work at work.
For my first Friday off I took her for her 2 month check up and her first set of vaccinations. But the whole day was busy. After I fed her in the morning she spit up, as usual, all over her onsie. So I changed her into some purple overalls.
As soon as I got them on she spit up some more but oh well. A little while later I went to go change her and as soon as I took off her diaper she peed and of course that went all over her overalls, shirt, and socks, so it was on to outfit number 3 for the day - a pink onsie with pink pants and hoodie.
You can't really tell here but she's got a little ballerina onsie on underneath.
While she was eating she spit up again but I was able to catch most of that on a burp cloth. But then she pooped and it went up and out the side of her diaper so it was onto outfit number 4 - or 3.5 - I just changed the onsie!
That one she managed to keep on for the rest of the day. So, between 8am and 11am she had on 4 different outfits! And to think I only take one extra outfit to daycare! Guess I gotta step it up. :)
Anyway - she did good at her doctors appointment. She weighs 11 lbs, 9 oz and is 22.5 inches long. That means since we brought her home from the hospital she has gained almost 4 lbs and grown 1.75 inches. She's a little heavy for her age but that's okay. We were concerned she wasn't getting enough b/c she spits up so much but I guess that's not the case. She got 4 vaccinations - 3 shots and one that was liquid that she drank. She scream bloody murder while she was getting them but I held her afterwards and gave her her pacifier and she was just fine. She didn't run a fever, wasn't cranky, or anything at home. She was kinda spacy and in and out of sleep all afternoon but nothing too bad. For that I am thankful!
And our last piece of information is that she held onto her rattle on Thursday! The only thing she has ever held is our fingers but I put that rattle in her hand and she held on to it for a while.
I did that because at daycare they said they put those plastic keys in her hand and she held on to them for a while so I thought I should try it at home and sure enough she did it. I'm sure she didn't know exactly what she was doing but it's still something.
That's it - probably more than enough since this is an ultra long post. I'm sure there's more I could tell you but right now I can't remember it and I think there's enough information here to last thru the week. :)
Here's hoping you have more and more days like your "Wednesday"!
