Wow, I can't believe I've been doing this for so long. Every month (more like every day) there's something new to report! But I'll have my hands full with Tyler's monthly reports so I'll be ending Kayla's at 2. You will still read all about her (if I can get my rear in gear here!) so don't you fret. But, here goes this last one... (Some random pictures are at the end, it's kind of hard to post pictures of her new abilities.)
Now, when she wakes up, she gets out of bed and turns on her light. Cute huh? And when she's done "reading" she says "mommy, where are you?" over and over again until someone gets her outta bed.
Speaking of which, she's in her new big girl bed now - her toddler bed. She likes it but I can't tell you if she likes it any better than the crib. She doesn't seem to have had an special attachment to the crib because she already refers to it as Tyler's bed. So, yay!
She now knows who she is in pictures, even as a baby, and refers to herself as Kakhi (still). I don't know why. She can say Kay and La but she doesn't put them together.
She's really into possession right now always saying "no, Kakhi's" to everything - her toys, her books, the door way, the stairs... anything. Kinda annoying! But hopefully she stops, just like she stopped saying "mine" one day.
She watches 1 Dora and 1 Mickey Mouse show in the morning and then turns off the tv. Or at least she used to until we got a tv that doesn't have the on/off button on the front of the tv.
She knows how to say 1-12 (can recognize 1-10), can count several items, recognizes and says the basic shapes (square, circle, triangle, rectangle, diamond, oval), knows the characters in Dora and Mickey Mouse (and will tell me if I say the wrong one), knows all her letters, and her colors.
She now, sorta, picks out her own lunches and sometimes dinner. She still doesn't like her food mixed up so if I make something that can't be separated she gets to pick her own dinner. Of course, that means she eats a lot of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches or mac and cheese with hot dogs. :-)
She and Tyler both love the Bigfoot toy we got her for her birthday. She loves to make it dance.
Physically, she can walk, run, hop, and jump off and over small things... and she loves to climb and swing on anything and everything at the park... and slide down the stairs on her little baby bottom.
Her favorite game is "where is X". Where finger go? In the waffle. Where mommy go? Right here in my chair. Where cocky go? Right there in her chair. Where sun go? In the trees. Usually she asks the question, I repeat it, and then she points to wherever X is, except the sun - that one she tells me it's hiding or in the trees or in the sky, etc.
When we get home she now asks to go drive again... so she can go play again.
She doesn't yet have 2 year pictures - we are working on getting them taken in the park soon.
She has ushered in the terrible twos with some serious umph. I definitely have to figure out how to handle her new found freedom. She has her likes and dislikes and things she wants to do and doesn't want to do and is definitely out to prove herself. I just have to remember that it's a good thing.
