Wow! Almost 2, for real. Just a few short weeks away! So crazy! He is definitely MY little boy! He's growing up and learning a lot - though he doesn't show off by any means and still doesn't talk a lot so it's kind of hard to see that but he is. I can tell. He's my snuggler, loves to be held. Kayla wasn't like that so it's nice. So, without further ado - the 2nd to last monthly report! Heeeeee....
Is a 2 year old complete with screaming fits and tantrums!
Says no very adamantly... No no no no no complete with head shakes and waving of the hands
Had Hand Foot Mouth disease! :-( It sounds worse than it is - it's basically just a rash. Doesn't itch or anything but it did hurt him to walk on the tile for a couple days. It goes away on it's own, no treatment, but it is contagious so we had to stay away from our friends. Luckily Kayla never got it and even though his case was pretty bad, he only got the Hand and Foot part, no mouth sores. So, we were lucky.
Still doesn't say the first sounds of most words. So teaching him gas was fun. :-)
He loves to tell us stuff, like that Kayla came downstairs or that he piled up his cars or that he sees a truck. Mom! Mom! Mom! Mom! Ook! Uck! (Look! Truck)
I left him for 9 hours for the first time ever and when I came home he would not let go of me. He had to touch me at all times.
Doesn't like bugs flying around him- especially flies. He'll cover his ears or his eyes when they are around. But he likes to point them out.
When he's trying to tell you something and you guess right, he claps his hands and says yay!
Kayla asked me what I like to do with her, then she asked daddy, then she asked Tyler and he said "nunuts" which is donuts. Ha ha
Insistent and persistent. If he doesn't get what he wants he just keeps asking, over and over and over again!
He likes to collect things in piles. He'll move all his cars from point a to point b, then sometimes to point c or d. He will pile them around you, pile them on a table... He'll pile stickers on top of one another, collect random things around the house and bring them to you...
He says "ayla" now and loves when she wakes up or we pick her up from school. He also says "acy" for Stacy and "arissa" for Marissa. And he already was calling Savannah "nana" just like Kayla did.
Knows how to say school, well, cool, and knows that there are cars there. Every time i say school he says "cars? cars?" I don't let him play often but there have been a couple instances and he remembers. I also showed him a picture of her at school and he said "cool" so he knew that's where the picture was taken. I didn't even tell him! See, he is smart!
Says hi or "ello" to everyone that walks by though he's really emphatic if it's a girl. :-)
He shuts all the doors upstairs before coming down - just like Kayla did. Though he figured out how to operate them much earlier than she did.
I started by saying he's into the terrible 2's and he is. He yells no and will throw himself on the ground but he gets over it quickly. It seems like its more for show whereas it seemed like for Kayla she was really quite pissed. He might be mad but he can get over it. She's like me, he's like dad in that respect. He likes to tell me no when I ask him to do something, like put his trucks away, but he does do it 30 seconds later. His rebellion is futile and short lived at this age. Luckily. :-)
Not much else has changed. Still loves dogs and cars/trucks. Still loves water and baths.
It's going to be interesting seeing how long this car thing lasts. But so far, that's all he's interested in. Though he's starting to like baking, just stirring mainly. Not a lot of interest in paint/coloring. Kayla could do it for hours - Tyler will do it for a few minutes and then move on. And it doesn't take long for him to paint himself. Ha ha. But they are different kids and they have different tastes. It's fun to see them grow! Until next month....

22 months
... Goes down slides by himself now! Took a while but he got the hang of it!
...will throw things in the sink when we ask him too! Yay. Along with the trash and the closet. Awesome
... But he had a little problem following directions such as pick up your trash or don't spit out your milk but it seems to have improved. I just ask if he wants to go in time out and he usually stops, though not always.
... Can also finally climb up onto the couch generally on his own! He must have grown an inch! Can also step down the stairs while holding the railing.
... In the car seat he sings like he's singing from a lonely jail cell. It's really funny. All forlorn and sad sounding.
...Sits with his hands behind his head during Ss.
...Now takes a 10 min nap on the way to pick up Kayla at preschool and wakes up when he hears her
...Dances anytime he hears music he likes... This consists of bouncing or stomping one foot.
...Copies Kayla by trying to answer the questions the tv shows ask though his response is unintelligible and his pointing random, but he tries.
...Eats cereal with milk every morning
...Calls "Cinderella" "Ella"
...He likes to take off his, or anyone else's, socks. And then put them back on, then take them off...

Blackjack (21 months)
It's that time again- or at least it was a 9 days ago. Oh, hey, 9 days late isn't too bad. Our little guy isn't growing up much but he is getting older and more fun. :-). He...
... loves to be on our shoulders - will pat my head to tell me he wants up there.
... When he gets in trouble he puts the backs of his hands up to his eyes to hide. Has done this for months actually.
... Eats just the jelly off his pb&j... Just like Kayla. Also sometimes takes off the cheese of a pizza, licks the sauce, and leaves most of the bread. It's a wonder this kid is gaining weight.
... Loves the carousel at the mall. It's a good thing we don't see the train much or he'd be all over that too!
...leans up against things, such as the tv shelf of the table, and crosses his legs, like he's just chillin.
... Is kinda on a meat strike. No hamburgers, hot dogs, corn dogs,etc lately. But he can still eat the daylights out of deli meat.
... Copies Kayla when she yells at the tv
... Claps when he's done something right, like line up his cars.
... When he gets near a bathroom or garage he starts saying "ah ah" to hear his echo.
... Goes and jumps on his bouncy horse when he steaks something- like he's getting away with it.
... Hoards his food. Gathers everything he can in his hands then gets down and tries to run away.
...always needs his trucks- even as he's going to bed or to the bath. If he doesn't have one he goes and grabs one before going upstairs.
...was able to say about 1/2 the alphabet for awhile but now everytime I ask him to repeat after me he says no.
... Goes up and down the stairs by himself so for the most part our gate stays down. With the exception of the bathroom I can kinda trust him up there for a minute or 2.
... Eats all day long! Che Che (Cheerios), acker (cracker), nana (banana), am (ham), ape (grape), bapple (apple), ookie!!!!! (cookie), ip, (chip), awful (waffle), pop pop ( lollipop) though 1/2 the time he just brings me things he finds in the pantry or fridge.
... At the park he will usually stop before running into the parking lot but I know when he starts going out there over and over again he needs to go in the stroller and he's ready to go home, or at least take a break. Why can't he just climb into the stroller???
... He's also started throwing tantrums. It's actually funny right now because it really just seems like he's copying Kayla or doing it for attention. He'll throw his head back and cry or fall down on the floor and cry.
Every day he's getting smarter and understanding more ad more. He's still a cuddler and sweet but is starting to become a 2 year old so that should be interesting. Fun times ahead!

Well, here we are again - 11 days late on poor Tyler's monthly update! Sorry, kiddo. I'd love to blame it on the visit from Aunt Amy and Adam but they didn't come until the 10th - 4 days after Tyler turned 20 months. Now I gotta try to remember what he was doing last month, not last week. Oops.
I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before but he is such a wanderer! All over the park, usually away from me, away from the other little kids. He likes other kids but doesn't tend to interact much and can wander away just as much as he can wander with them.
He is starting to listen to directions but still doesn't do a lot of what you ask him to do. He'll stop from going into the street when you say no, or get down from the tv, but when you say "look at me" or "come over here" he is good at ignoring you. Just like a man. :-)
He knows where his hair, head, eyes, eyelashes, ears, nose, mouth, teeth, tongue, arms, fingers, belly, belly button, feet, and toes are. He knows where most of those are on me too but has a special affinity for my eyelashes and hair. But that's been going on for a while. He also knows where his shirt his, his shoes, and socks. Pants and legs are apparently not real important to him right now.
He'll give you high fives, fist bumps, and blow you kisses.
He loves to play boom boom.! He'll squeeze his hands at you and say boom boom so that you will do that to him. But if I tell him to go do it to someone he will- he'll even try to tickle them. Ha ha.
Like most little brothers, he wants to do whatever Kayla and her friends are doing, be wherever they are. Poor Tyler gets left out and Kayla gets annoyed. They can be good together but they are definitely brother and sister and all that that entails.
He's finally pretty solidly into the 18 month clothes. The 12 month shirts are hard to get off sometimes, and the pants are definitely too short. He's coming along - slowly.
Usually he says the opposite of what he means. Says no before yes, down when he means up... guess that's about all the opposites but he says them all day long!
He goes to naps and bedtime on his own now - no more patting him until he falls asleep. He still falls asleep on the way home (around 12:30pm) but he transfers well and if we're home when it's nap time he can fall asleep on his own. I give him a car now in his crib so that keeps him entertained till he falls asleep.
I forgot to say this last month, but at about 18 months and 1 week he stopped nursing. He stopped evenings, then didn't ask for it after nap one day, so the next morning I just stopped offering it. Instead he eats cereal in the morning and we watch a show together in the afternoon so he still gets food/comfort. 18 months was a long time but stopping it was relatively painless for both of us. He had his moments and some crying but it didn't last long.
He doesn't like food on his fingers. He gets too much sauce or syrup on them and he holds it in the air rolling it around till I wipe it off.
Along the same lines- he wants to eat whatever anyone else is eating. I'm pretty sure I haven't finished my own snack/meal in months!
I'm teaching him to say I love you and it comes out as I, ov, oh (like last half of you). And he only says each word as I say it. But he does it every time. And it's super cute to watch because he sticks his lips out when he says "oh" at the end.
Likes his feet massaged! Who knew???
He will repeat a lot but he doesn't say much on his own. He says 'ep' for help and if I don't hear him or do it right away he comes over to me, gets right in my face if we're at eye level, and says "mom, es, ep" which means, mom, this, help, complete with pointing or pulling me to where he wants me. Its really cute.
Pretty much most of what he does is cute. He cries when there's a problem but I usually don't know what it is and he can't tell me so that's annoying but the rest of the time when he plays with his cars all day or laughs because I'm tickling him is really stinking cute.
He is pretty good about taking turns - like when we're throwing them on the couch, or making funny sounds to each of them, or putting them on our shoulders- he even encourages us to take turns by pointing to Kayla after he's had his turn.
I guess that's about it for now. He is understanding more and more every day and I have to remember to give him credit for things. Since he doesn't talk I tend to think of him as younger than he is, but he's a smart kid and I have to remind myself of that sometimes... he reminds me too. :-)
