Well, here we are again - 11 days late on poor Tyler's monthly update! Sorry, kiddo. I'd love to blame it on the visit from Aunt Amy and Adam but they didn't come until the 10th - 4 days after Tyler turned 20 months. Now I gotta try to remember what he was doing last month, not last week. Oops.
I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before but he is such a wanderer! All over the park, usually away from me, away from the other little kids. He likes other kids but doesn't tend to interact much and can wander away just as much as he can wander with them.
He is starting to listen to directions but still doesn't do a lot of what you ask him to do. He'll stop from going into the street when you say no, or get down from the tv, but when you say "look at me" or "come over here" he is good at ignoring you. Just like a man. :-)
He knows where his hair, head, eyes, eyelashes, ears, nose, mouth, teeth, tongue, arms, fingers, belly, belly button, feet, and toes are. He knows where most of those are on me too but has a special affinity for my eyelashes and hair. But that's been going on for a while. He also knows where his shirt his, his shoes, and socks. Pants and legs are apparently not real important to him right now.
He'll give you high fives, fist bumps, and blow you kisses.
He loves to play boom boom.! He'll squeeze his hands at you and say boom boom so that you will do that to him. But if I tell him to go do it to someone he will- he'll even try to tickle them. Ha ha.
Like most little brothers, he wants to do whatever Kayla and her friends are doing, be wherever they are. Poor Tyler gets left out and Kayla gets annoyed. They can be good together but they are definitely brother and sister and all that that entails.
He's finally pretty solidly into the 18 month clothes. The 12 month shirts are hard to get off sometimes, and the pants are definitely too short. He's coming along - slowly.
Usually he says the opposite of what he means. Says no before yes, down when he means up... guess that's about all the opposites but he says them all day long!
He goes to naps and bedtime on his own now - no more patting him until he falls asleep. He still falls asleep on the way home (around 12:30pm) but he transfers well and if we're home when it's nap time he can fall asleep on his own. I give him a car now in his crib so that keeps him entertained till he falls asleep.
I forgot to say this last month, but at about 18 months and 1 week he stopped nursing. He stopped evenings, then didn't ask for it after nap one day, so the next morning I just stopped offering it. Instead he eats cereal in the morning and we watch a show together in the afternoon so he still gets food/comfort. 18 months was a long time but stopping it was relatively painless for both of us. He had his moments and some crying but it didn't last long.
He doesn't like food on his fingers. He gets too much sauce or syrup on them and he holds it in the air rolling it around till I wipe it off.
Along the same lines- he wants to eat whatever anyone else is eating. I'm pretty sure I haven't finished my own snack/meal in months!
I'm teaching him to say I love you and it comes out as I, ov, oh (like last half of you). And he only says each word as I say it. But he does it every time. And it's super cute to watch because he sticks his lips out when he says "oh" at the end.
Likes his feet massaged! Who knew???
He will repeat a lot but he doesn't say much on his own. He says 'ep' for help and if I don't hear him or do it right away he comes over to me, gets right in my face if we're at eye level, and says "mom, es, ep" which means, mom, this, help, complete with pointing or pulling me to where he wants me. Its really cute.
Pretty much most of what he does is cute. He cries when there's a problem but I usually don't know what it is and he can't tell me so that's annoying but the rest of the time when he plays with his cars all day or laughs because I'm tickling him is really stinking cute.
He is pretty good about taking turns - like when we're throwing them on the couch, or making funny sounds to each of them, or putting them on our shoulders- he even encourages us to take turns by pointing to Kayla after he's had his turn.
I guess that's about it for now. He is understanding more and more every day and I have to remember to give him credit for things. Since he doesn't talk I tend to think of him as younger than he is, but he's a smart kid and I have to remind myself of that sometimes... he reminds me too. :-)

Closer to 2 than 1! (19 months)
Alright - I'm behind but here it is! Maybe I'll get around to the next one in just a couple weeks. Ha ha. Heeeee...
...loves to play race - even says "do" (go) when he's ready (as in, standing against the front door or back door. But doesn't have a specific end point in mind. Just runs until he feels like go back to the starting point. Sometimes he'll run to me and give me hugs, but most times he just runs to the middle of the house then turns back around.
...Wants to feed people... or dogs... he's been doing this for a while now since back in October (it's now February) he was taking food from daddy's plate at Zoes birthday party and feeding it to Zoes dog. Ha ha.
...Will hold up pretend food, or anything he wants to be food, and say mumumum so you can pretend to eat it.
...Moves his cars into lines, circling each other, and wants to race them. He sorta tries to say "vroom vroom" but it just sounds like mumbling at this point.
...Eats cereal with a spoon... eat most meals with silver ware. :-) Well, not the whole meal but he some of the meal.
...Drinks out of cups. For a while he was refusing sippy cups but lately he switches back and forth. He does however like to dump out whatever is in the cup or put things in it (like his meal!) so once that happens he automatically gets a sippy. One day he'll learn. But he does remarkably well drinking out of a cup - doesn't usually spill while drinking - only later when he dumps it all out!
...Will wipe up his messes (crayon/paint messes) but only for a moment. He's not real concerned with it.
...Says "bye" anytime he zooms his car away, if he walks away with his stroller, rides away on his dinosaur... all within a few feet of where he started but he still says bye.
...Loves Dora and Bubble Guppies. When he sees their picture up on the TV he goes straight for it and Says "Rara" or "Bubble"
...Loves waffles for breakfast. Or maybe it's just the syrup he loves.
...He points to himself when I say "me" and is starting to say mine, not often but it does happen.
...Loves Jackson. When he sees him he laughs and tries to play with him. Jax is a couple months younger so he's not quite into playing with other people yet but they do laugh at each other and give each other hugs and kisses. It's cute.
...Learned how to make fish faces. But I probably should work on it some more b/c he seems to have forgotten momentarily.
... says "no" when he means yes so it ends up being "no, esss" :-)
... dumps out his drinks or puts food/toys in the cups. SO annoying! Also dumps out food or drops things/food when he's done with it.
...Says "thank you" in sign language - sorta. It's supposed to be touching his mouth and then pulling his hand down, but, he just touches his hand to his mouth and says "do do" just like Kayla did. But, whatever works.
His vocabulary now includes:

I just had him weighed today and he is 31 inches tall (10th percentile) and weighs 23.8lbs (25th percentile).

Half way to 2!
It's that time again - time for the monthly update. The only thing I manage to get done sorta close to on time. Maybe. If you don't think about it too much. :-)
Mr. Man is now 18 months old! And, low and behold, he is still growing into 18 month clothes! He can still totally fit into 12 month clothes, though not pants (which are too short) and the 18 month ones are still big on my little guy but we're getting there. Because of his size I'm having a hard time transitioning my parenting/thinking to toddlerhood rather than babyhood. I gotta get my game together because he is definitely going to cause me some problems. He...
... loves to throw things, hit things, bang things, pinch things, drop things... and by things I mean toys, food, people (though he's not exactly dropping people) - whatever he can get his hands on.
... loves the magnetic trains he got for Christmas - likes to link the trackless ones together and likes to see the others go down the hills on the track. He could do it forever!
... can shovel in the food - or not - depending on the day. I just can't worry about it anymore. He brings me food when he's hungry and drops it or spits it out of his mouth when he doesn't. All I can do is try to limit the spitting. And keep good snacks around that he can reach - no chocolate chips on the bottom shelf of the pantry anymore. :-)
... waves/says hi, bye, and night - on a good day. Usually it's just a wave but sometimes you get the accompanying word.
... says blue (b/c they like their applesauce to be dyed blue), dow, up, help (comes out as 'up'), bubble, wa wa for water (I think, gotta listen really closely for this one), mpeas for more please, ba for ball, can say mama and dada but mama is very rare. "No" however, he knows how to say very well. :-) Along with uh oh and ow.
... loves to go where I tell him not to - the street, a hallway i can't see down, on the chairs/table....
... sits in the little red adirondack chair next to Kayla who's sitting in her pink camp chair.
... Still loves to copy his sister. Watching Dora, he points when she points, he nods yes when she does. When we dance he spins when she does. When they eat, he drinks when she drinks. When they are both in good moods, and in the mood to play together, they play together really well. They'll stand up next to each other next to the wall and race across the living room, they'll tickle each other, tackle each other, etc. It's really cute. Of course, this isn't all the time but it definitely happens. But they can't do specific activities together - can barely read a book together, can't play with the trains together, can't put puzzles together etc. They are too young to share, I get that... just can't wait until they can!
... constantly put his hand down the back of his diaper. He's not scratching or anything, just kind of hanging out with his hands on his behind! Ha ha.
... still loves to pet dogs and any other animal he can find but would really just prefer to play with it's nose.
... loves to throw things in water - cups, the toilet, the bathtub - whatever he can find.
... also loves to drink out of cups - and can do it well. Until he dumps out the cup and plays with the contents.
... has incredible balance. Kayla fell A LOT, this boy falls but he steps over things you don't think he sees, he catches himself before he falls, he's a weeble! (weebles wabble but they don't fall down, ha ha)
... is finally going down the slides by himself and can walk up and down the stairs on his own as long as there's something for him to hold on to. If there's not he'll slide down the stairs like his sister.
... is a super happy boy, as long as he's fed and has slept well. If either of those is off he is attached to my hip. I love to cuddle with him and make him smile. Melts my heart!
(P.S. Still nurses 2-3 times a day. So hard to wean!)

Seventeen!
Well, hello there! Long time no see! Sorry about that. Someone said to me shortly after Tyler was born "I wonder how long you'll be able to keep up the blog?" Well, I made it almost a year and a half. Sorry about that. No more promises about being better... I will keep up the monthly posts on Tyler until he turns two but I can't guarantee any others. Sorry! Just make sure you keep up with the pictures and you'll be up to date with our activities.
Now, back to Tyler's 17 month post... I cannot believe he's almost a year and a half! And technically, he's the same age Kayla was when he was born! Wowzers!
Let's see - we'll start with the stuff that's the same. He's still ! Never in a million did I think that would happen! He's still obsessed with cars and anything with wheels. He still loves to climb up on tables - his favorite is the kitchen table! Now - new(ish) stuff. He...
... tends to push things under other things - blocks/balls under the tree, under the TV stand, under chairs, whatever.
... says "up" very clearly, "mm, peas" for more please, "bop" for lollipop. Knows a snake says "ssss", a monkey says "ah ah", and lion growls, and when you say "what does a duck say?" he squeezes his hands like he's quacking.
... oh, yea, he loves lollipops! Loves them!
... weighs 22.2lbs! Made it to the 25th percentile on the charts! Yay!
... is wearing 12-18m or 18 month clothes. i know i emailed some of you saying 12 month but apparently he had a growth spurt!
... loves to watch videos and pictures on the camera - even while you're taking the video so it's making it hard to take the videos. Ha ha
... big fan of knocking things over and destroying things. Tyler the destroyer!
... likes to copy things that Kayla's doing - holds the fun up to face and mumbles, tried to put ornaments on the tree, spins when she spins, he loves her!
... Plays with his eyelashes as he is falling asleep, unless he's laying on me in which case he plays with my hair
... likes to play race or chase or ring around the rosey with Kayla and the other kids.
... is working on running - looks quite funny doing it but he certainly tries!
... likes to go down only short slides or if its a normal size slide he only likes to go down holding my hand or on his belly.
... is actually coloring with the crayons more than eating them. Slight improvement over the last month. :-)
... is into tantrums - throws things, yells, slams doors when he's mad. It's so funny because he's so little. Just makes me laugh!

... doesn't like blankets on him. I just reread Kayla's 17 month post and she didn't like them either at this age. How funny.

... he's a big ole baby when he's sick - looks so pathetic with his runny nose and bad cough.
... and he's still a big ole mama's boy. It takes him a while to warm up to people. I feel bad when family comes to visit because he doesn't want a whole lot to do with them. He will, one day, figure this out.
... is becoming more and more fun and funny. Poor kid's been sick a lot in the last month but when he's not sick he's fun. I'm looking forward to hearing him express himself in ENGLISH instead of screams! Ha ha.

16 and counting
My little boy is definitely a toddler... And definitely a boy! He's a daredevil, he hurts himself more than Kayla, and is a man of few words. Like 2 to be exact: "this" and "bye". I think he might have that a monkey says "ah ah" but I'm not 100%. He'll repeat mama and dada still but that's it. Pretty slow goin with the speech. But he does have "more" down in sign language and screaming. But enough about that- let me tell you some other fun stuff.
He's never liked things on his neck, just forgot to tell you. Plus, he hasn't had things on his neck until recently because it was too warm. But that's why he doesn't wear bibs- never liked it. He...
... Can walk backwards and is so proud of himself about it.
... Can also turn himself I'm circles just like his sis.
... loves to mimic now- especially stuff
Kayla does that he probably really shouldn't be doing. Ha ha. But she mimics him too, just to get attention.
... Really tries to play with Kayla and be as close to her as possible. It's cute to watch, when she goes along with it.
... Also pushes and pulls on her to play with her or get her attention and that, like anyone else, she isn't fond of.
... Is a dipper... Syrup, ketchup, hummus- loves it all. But tends to just just suck the dip off the food. He's a double... Er... Quadruple dipper. Ha ha.
... Loves to run out into street at the park and generally go places I've told him not to. I didn't realize it started to early!
...Sleeps 730pm-6am without getting up or nursing!! I finally held strong for 5 nites of him crying right after he turned 15 months and since them he has only woken up a few (as in less than 5) times.
... Only nurses 3 times a day- waking up in the morning and from nap and going to sleep. Admittedly the morning one is to try to get him to go back to sleep. It works about half the time. But he doesn't need any of those. If I'm not here to do it it doesn't appear to bother him. So it's just for comfort.
... Wears 12 month clothes for the most part. They are a little long and a little wide but 9 month stuff is getting a little small.
...Weighs 21.2 lbs which is up almost a lb and a half from last month.
... Gives kisses, blows kisses, hugs, high 5s, Plays ring around the rosey- over and over again!!!
... His favorite thing to do is pull himself up on the kitchen chairs and climb into the kitchen table. Apparently the 2 in the living room aren't high enough for this little daredevil!
... Puts stickers in his hair because he thinks that's where they belong since that's here Kayla always puts them on him.
... doesn't like things on his legs- pushes off blankets and if anyone wraps their arms around his legs he pushes at them too.
... got 1 molar a day or 2 before turning 16 months and is working on 2 more molars and an incisor. Whew!
...Loves his shoes... And trucks. I know I've said those multiple times but it's not changing. He always wants his shoes on. Brings them to me and sits down. And when they get on he goes to the backdoor and screams to go outside. Ha ha. And of course he's always playing with trucks... Always!
... trying so hard to run. He can move pretty quickly but it's not an actual run. He tries though.
His favorite thing to do in the house is pull himself up onto the kitchen chair and see if he can get up on the table.
His second favorite is eating crayons an marker tips. And seeing as coloring is Kayla's favorite activity... We have issues.
He's a lot of work but he's a ton of fun too! Can't wait to see how the holidays go with him!
He's never liked things on his neck, just forgot to tell you. Plus, he hasn't had things on his neck until recently because it was too warm. But that's why he doesn't wear bibs- never liked it. He...
... Can walk backwards and is so proud of himself about it.
... Can also turn himself I'm circles just like his sis.
... loves to mimic now- especially stuff
Kayla does that he probably really shouldn't be doing. Ha ha. But she mimics him too, just to get attention.
... Really tries to play with Kayla and be as close to her as possible. It's cute to watch, when she goes along with it.
... Also pushes and pulls on her to play with her or get her attention and that, like anyone else, she isn't fond of.
... Is a dipper... Syrup, ketchup, hummus- loves it all. But tends to just just suck the dip off the food. He's a double... Er... Quadruple dipper. Ha ha.
... Loves to run out into street at the park and generally go places I've told him not to. I didn't realize it started to early!
...Sleeps 730pm-6am without getting up or nursing!! I finally held strong for 5 nites of him crying right after he turned 15 months and since them he has only woken up a few (as in less than 5) times.
... Only nurses 3 times a day- waking up in the morning and from nap and going to sleep. Admittedly the morning one is to try to get him to go back to sleep. It works about half the time. But he doesn't need any of those. If I'm not here to do it it doesn't appear to bother him. So it's just for comfort.
... Wears 12 month clothes for the most part. They are a little long and a little wide but 9 month stuff is getting a little small.
...Weighs 21.2 lbs which is up almost a lb and a half from last month.
... Gives kisses, blows kisses, hugs, high 5s, Plays ring around the rosey- over and over again!!!
... His favorite thing to do is pull himself up on the kitchen chairs and climb into the kitchen table. Apparently the 2 in the living room aren't high enough for this little daredevil!
... Puts stickers in his hair because he thinks that's where they belong since that's here Kayla always puts them on him.
... doesn't like things on his legs- pushes off blankets and if anyone wraps their arms around his legs he pushes at them too.
... got 1 molar a day or 2 before turning 16 months and is working on 2 more molars and an incisor. Whew!
...Loves his shoes... And trucks. I know I've said those multiple times but it's not changing. He always wants his shoes on. Brings them to me and sits down. And when they get on he goes to the backdoor and screams to go outside. Ha ha. And of course he's always playing with trucks... Always!
... trying so hard to run. He can move pretty quickly but it's not an actual run. He tries though.
His favorite thing to do in the house is pull himself up onto the kitchen chair and see if he can get up on the table.
His second favorite is eating crayons an marker tips. And seeing as coloring is Kayla's favorite activity... We have issues.
He's a lot of work but he's a ton of fun too! Can't wait to see how the holidays go with him!

Getting into Fall
Here in So Cal where it's still in the 80's-90s on most days it's kinda hard to get into the spirit of fall. But we sure try! We did have a couple days of cooler weather that teased us and helped us to get into the spirit but, alas, it was followed by more warm (like 100 degree) weather! Oh well, we still have September/October things to do!
Like... visit the apple orchard! This was actually a Luna event. But rather than try to do keep control of Tyler who has his own agenda these days, Eric stayed home with him so Kayla and I were able to have a nice, almost relaxing, time at the orchards. We went with our friends Kelly/Zoe, Heather/Kennedy, Toni/Soren, and Stacy/Jackson. We walked, we talked, we pulled, we twisted, we ate, we danced, we called it a day. It was a nice couple of hours.
And then a couple weeks later we hit up, though not specifically Fall, the IE Food Truck Fest again. And again, Eric stayed home with Tyler so Kayla and I got to hang out with Kelly and Zoe for the day and have a great time! Got some good food, played a little, got her face painted, and came home very full and tired.
Then this week was full of pumpkin patch visits! The kids and I went with Luna Moms Club on Tuesday and then our family of 4 went back today. It's a huge patch complete with a corn maze, a hay castle, rides, bounce houses, and a petting zoo. The rides weren't open when we went on Tuesday so we just did the petting zoo and hay castle, after getting a tour around the patch. Today we got to do all the fun rides and bounce houses. And after 2 visits to the patch I still don't have a picture of the kids in the middle of a bunch of pumpkins! I might take them back to the one right by our house and make them sit there until I get one! Ha ha
And that's not all! In the coming weeks we have a Halloween Movie Night at a friends house, the Claremont Children's Halloween Party, the Luna Moms Club Moms Costume Party, the LMC kids Halloween Costume Party, and actual Halloween! So lots of dressing up in the coming weeks!

Tyler's 15th Month
Well, even if his clothes don't prove it, Mr. Tyler is 15 months old.
... he wears 9-12 month clothes. And the 12 month ones are still on the big side!
... understands and responds to the following questions/statements: where's your head/mouth/eyes, clap your hands, stomp your feet, give me high five, give kisses, give hugs, lets go to bed, and sit down... to name a few.
... and he knows the sign language for "more" (clapping) but only does it if you say "do you want more" not on his own. Baby steps.
... has figured out how to climb into the wagon! It takes a little bit but he works at it and does get it. It's not pretty... just pretty funny. Ha ha.
... he loves wearing shoes. Will go get them when you ask him too, or bring them to you when he wants them on. But once you get them on, watch out. He's gonna want to go out to the garage.
... he loves the garage - will go wander around in there, around the cars, and run away from you if you try and get him.
... he climbs up and all over the playground equipment and LOVES going down the slides and can go down them on his own. I'm still right there but he can do it.
... he still has an affinity for standing on tables but has moved on to the cradle stand, the kitchen table chairs, and the actual kitchen table! He only got to the table once but he loves climbing up onto those chairs!
... he's enjoying being able to color with markers with his sister, but also likes to eat the tips... just like crayons. So I have to be careful. But it doesn't last long - few minutes of coloring and he's over it.
... tries to do some of the activities in gymnastics. It's kind of hard to manage him and Kayla at gymnastics but at least Kayla's old enough to do a lot of it herself. So I can help Tyler do a few of it or distract him from being in other kids way. Ha ha.
... he's finally drinking milk! Yay! And I mean, he can chug that stuff. Not all the time but way more than he used to!
... but he also still nurses. Usually just 2-3 times a day (when he wakes up in the morning, after nap, and before bed.) But he also still nurses at night 1-2 times. Wonder how long that'll go on. :-)
... doesn't like yogurt but must hold Kayla's go-gurt while she eats her own. He just likes to squeeze it - but don't you dare feed it to him! Ha ha.+
... will wash his hands - demands to wash his hands if he sees a faucet! Even rubbing his hands together to rub the soap in.
... his new favorite game is ring around the rosey, well, at least a close second to peek a boo. And he starts clapping his hands when you sing Patty Cake or BINGO
... he's obsessed with the trash. So annoying!
... he's specific about what books he wants to read at bedtime. I keep about 10 up in the office and when I hold one up he'll either get comfy in my lap (yes) or squirm (no). My book list includes Goodnight Texas, Goodnight Zoo, Goodnight America, Pooh and Tigger, First Words (this is a must read!) along with a few others.
... still only has 7 teeth. Though, he might be getting another one, can't tell if he's sick or teething right now.
... stands up in the fridge every time the door is opened. Thankfully he doesn't flip out if you move him, but he definitely resists.
... he's still a HUGE fan of trucks and cars! HUGE! And I totally encourage it!
... goes and hides behind the tv, acting like he's going to grab the wires, just to get a rise out of mom and dad. Same reason he stands up on the cradle stand!
... didn't gain any weight, or only ounces, in the last 3 months. Is just under 20 lbs! (5-6 lbs lighter than Kayla at this same age!)
... still doesn't say any words. Waves bye but that's about it. But he understands a lot so the doctor isn't worried. Boys are usually a little behind girls in verbal development. He's definitely not behind in his physical abilities - he may be small but he sure is agile!
... he LOVES his sister! If he hears her in the morning he wakes up. When he's downstairs and she wakes up from a nap he goes to the gate and calls up to her, and if she's coming downstairs he's talking up a storm to her. When she comes downstairs he has to give her hugs. He wants to be wherever she is, play with whatever she is playing with, sit next to her, play with her hair, chase her, be chased by her, etc. It's really cute to watch.
... is such a momma's boy! He can kill you with is smile... as long as he's fed and not tired he's a very happy boy.

Less Words Wednesday: GG and Papa
(I really did start this on Wednesday, but was having issues with pictures... )
This past weekend GG and Papa were in town to visit! And I'll tell you what, if I am half as active as they are when I'm about 80 years old I'll be doing good! We were nonstop!
All in 4 days! And that doesn't include the walks they took around the complex in the stroller or wagon, the shopping, the cleaning, the reading, te bathing, or all the time they spent on the floor trying to distract Tyler from the fact that I wasn't in his line of site at all times. They need a vacation from their vacation!

We hit the park for some fun with bubbles and the swings.
We made pizza (a first for GG!!)
We took Kayla to art class.
Had lunch at Rainforest Cafe. (No pics of that - too dark in there to take pics with the iphone)

San Diego Part 2
Happy, happy, joy, joy! We had a great little vacation to San Diego! Just a quick trip - 4 days - to an awesome little beach house in Mission Bay! I had found this house with every toy imaginable and only 1 house away from the bay. And we had convinced Gabby to come with us so there were 3 adults to 2 kids so it was going to be a nice vacation! We didn't have any specific plans for our few days there - just to try to relax, enjoy the house and the yard and the toys, and that's about it.
Strike 4 happened at the Wild Animal Park- Rita handed me her camera and it turned off. Figured the battery just died but she plugged
It in and still nothing. Great- 2 cameras down in 2 days! Whatelse?
After another day of playing with toys (another no nap day for Kayla who instead found Gabby's lipstick and painted herself with it - strike #5!) and a fun date night touring the Gas Lamp District of San Diego we had to say goodbye.
Just like any other day or vacation there were ups an downs buy overall it was a good experience. We were so glad Gabby came with us- she was extraordinarily helpful and is awesome with the kids. She needed a vacation from her vacation!
(And you know what- the fun didn't end there- we hit up gymnastics on the way home and spent the entire next day at the LA County Fair! But that's another post...)
We got down there and did not wait to dive right into the toys! The car was a big hit. But it was missing something really important... Kayla thought she'd look under the hood. :-)
Once we found the battery she and Tyler got busy. We couldn't get them out of it hardly at all for the next 4 days.
Dad got busy doing what he does best - grilling and watching the Cowboys season opener!
And I, well, I relaxed. :-)
We also made use of the bike, the wagon, and, um, the bay!
Gabby and the kids had fun playing in the water. It was in the 60s and 70s while we were there so a little too chilly to actually swim. The kids did get in the water but only the lower half of their bodies. :-) Instead, Gabby tried to collect sea shells, but they dumped out the bucket. Soooo, I'm not sure who had more fun. This was also about the time I dropped my barely 1 month old camera in the water. That was strike 2 on the trip. Strike 1 came when Tyler fell off the lawn chair and bit his tongue (we think) and ended up with a bloody mouth. And strike 3 came later this first full day when Kayla was playing around instead of napping and fell off the bed, hitting her nose, giving herself her first bloody nose. :-)
You would think 3 strikes you're out but not when you're on vacation. We ended up going to the San Diego Wild Animal Park on Tuesday. We went to the Zoo last year so wanted to try the other Zoo.
